AMWA Southeast Chapter Education Webinar: “What is Your Medical Writing Niche?”

The AMWA-SE Chapter Board invites you to participate in a virtual forum entitled “What is Your Medical Writing Niche?”  The virtual forum will be on August 13, 2019 from 11:00 AM-12:00 PM CST.

During this time, members of the board will discuss their medical writing niches and answer questions.

Online Book Club: “Stiff” by Mary Roach

The AMWA-SE Chapter will be hosting an online book club on June 12th. We will be discussing Stiff by Mary Roach.

If you are interested in joining or helping to facilitate the book club, please email secretary@amwa-se.org.  The book club meets via Google Hangouts.  You will receive an email with the link to join our club Hangout.  The discussion begins at 6:30 PM CST and lasts about an hour.

AMWA Southeast Chapter “Ask Me Anything” Virtual Forum

The AMWA-SE Chapter Board is introducing a series of “Lunch and Learn” seminars. Our first will be a virtual forum entitled “Ask Me Anything.”  The forum will be on April 9, 2019 from 11:00 AM-12:00 PM CST.

During this time, members of the board will be available to answer questions and facilitate discussion about the medical writing profession.

Educational Event in Nashville April 2018

An educational seminar was given Tuesday, April 3 at Richland Library in Nashville, TN.

Dr. Yasmine Ali gave a presentation on evaluating the legitimacy and transparency of research studies titled, “Lies, More Lies, and Statistics.”

Following the presentation and Q&A session, food was provided and the attendees continued networking.

A total of 8 members and 1 non-member attended the seminar. The discussion was lively, and members discussed future events and presentation topics of interest.

Educational Presentation – Statistical Concepts for Medical Writers

Emily J. Woodward, PhD Clinical Development Scientist and Regulatory Writer at Synchrogenix, presented about the fundamentals of statistics for medical writers. Email invitations were sent to all members with information on how to attend in person or online. The presentation was live-streamed on Periscope and archived for later viewing by members unavailable to attend the in-person presentation.
